Prestige Subaru is sponsoring the Prestige Film Competition to support and encourage local filmmakers.  This contest is ONLY for residents of WNC and students attending WNC schools.

Entry is free and cash prizes will be awarded for the top 3 films, including $500 for first place, which will also be screened at the Asheville Cinema Festival Nov. 1-4.  The top 3 films also receive 2 VIP All Access Passes to the Festival that gets them into every film, event, and party, including the opening night film, Silver Linings Playbook.

Films may be any genre, but have a run time of no longer than 7 minutes.  The only content stipulation is that a Subaru must appear onscreen for at least 10 seconds.  As clarified by the competition’s website:

IT IS NOT REQUIRED that the film state in any way that it is a Subaru.  We want films with unique stories submitted, not “commercials” for Subaru.  The Subaru does not have to play a “role” in the film.  You do not have to direct attention to the Subaru.  It can simply be sitting in the background of a scene without anyone mentioning it.  It is the filmmaker’s choice to how to use the Subaru as long as it isn’t in a negative light.

The deadline is Monday, October 22 at noon.  Submission details are also available on the website.

A screening of all of the entries will occur in mid-November at a local movie theater.  If the competition is a moderate success this year, the cash prizes will grow for next year.
