SAWHORSE

Posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan Facebook page on 7/29/2021

I went to Sawhorse for brunch the other day with my friend Mike, and I got a big ol’ breakfast of meat pie, eggs, beans, taters, and salad! It was excellent!!! The kitchen also sent a lemon curd donut to start us out, and a mini version of their maple eclair to finish us off! Everything was incredibly tasty, FILLING, and satisfying. Thanks, Sawhorse! Thanks, Mike! ❤️

I didn’t get a picture of the salt potatoes, but they were also excellent! We were too full to eat them there, but I reheated them the next day, and they were delicious!

PUPUSERIA PATY ASHEVILLE

Posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan Facebook page on 7/26/2021

I got abducted by Pupuseria Paty Asheville this morning! I’m not sure what Chef Paty Saenz has in mind for me, but I know it involves hot dogs! ???

When I told you Chef Paty from Pupuseria Paty Asheville served me six hot dogs, I was not exaggerating. I ate half of each and took the rest home. These dogs ruled. She listened to my humble opinion, and I basically told her that alllll these dogs are competitive, a couple really rang my bell, and that the only category I thought she might could amp up a little bit is the “How Punk Is It” column. One thing is fir sure: She’s going to have one hell of a dog for y’all on Saturday July 31st, Asheville! Come out and show your support for this kick ass chef!

Seven… hot dogs… later… LOL Here I am with Chef Paty Saenz of Pupuseria Paty Asheville after she fed me 6 amazing hot dogs! I’ll post pictures of the dogs she fed me, but I just wanna say right now, the other competitors better bring their A game if they want to stand a chance against Chef Paty!

WAKUWAKU JAPANESE EATERY

Posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan Facebook page on 7/23/2021

Y’all. I’m in ❤ love ❤ with the food from Wakuwaku Eatery, and the chef knows it. She keeps bringing me different things from her menu to try, educating me about her food, Japanese food in general, as well as Japanese cultural traditions! This amazing array of food includes eel (yum!) which Chef Mikami told me is a thing that folks in Japan load up on eel from July 28th to August 1st as a “seasonal event to survive hot Summers.” I’ll put some links that she sent me in the comments section.

In the pictures, you will see the following:

Una-Don (Unagi / eel) rice bowl
Pork sauce Katsu-Don
Sunomono – cucumber salad
Kinpira – gobo, carrots and Konnyaku
Goma Ae – Green bean salad

###
Chef also sent me the pricing for her special Summer Unagi (eel) running until 8/1
###
*Charcoal grilled Unagi 1 pack (2 to 3 servings)
$ 17.00 → $ 13.00
*Unadon (rice bowl)
$ 16.00 → $ 12.00
*Unagi Oshizushi
$ 14.50 → $ 10.00
###
Thank you, Chef! Every bite of everything was super delicious! ❤️??

GOOD GRAVY BAKES

I was fortunate enough to receive a sample of very yummy delicious baked goods from Chef Beth Kellerhals aka Good Gravy Bakes! A plain biscuit, a pimento cheese biscuit, and a chocolate cherry scone. All very tasty and enjoyable! Thanks, Chef! (And thanks also to Chef Naomi from Wakuwaku Eatery for bringing them to me!)

BENNE ON EAGLE

Posted to Stu Helm: Food Fan Facebook page on 7/23/2021

Dawn and I were treated to a wonderful meal at Benne on Eagle last night by our friends, Chuck and Margaret! Everything was really tasty, from the charcuterie board to the two desserts… and every dish in between! The dry rub wings were exemplary (Riiiick!) and they came with an outstanding coconut based sauce for dipping! The service was beyond great, the atmosphere was lively, and the entire experience was excellent! I can’t wait to go back and try more! I think they will be switching the menu up soon, tho, so if you want these dishes, get in there soon! I hope they keep these wings in the menu! ? ???
