Hello, Asheville! Here’s another Food Feed for you! The words and pictures below were originally posted to social media, mostly Facebook, but also Instagram. I hope that you will enjoy them, and that you will be able to get some, if not all of the delicious food items listed here!
The Food Feed is in reverse chronological order. Scroll down through the past…
Neomi from Buggy Pops dropped off a whole bunch of samples of her awesome popsicles today! Yes, I’ve eaten three already! Watermelon mint, cantaloupe, and her signature popsicle, coconut cinnamon. They are SO FRICKIN’ GOOD! She brought me one of each flavor that she carries, so I’ll be eating a ton of popsicles in the next couple days. ? We also fist-bumped it in: Buggy Pops is going to be at the Food Fan Food Pod! Our first vendor. More TBA.

Dawn and I had a wonderful meal at Avenue M last night. Holy moly, y’all. Do not sleep on this restaurant. The kitchen crew right now is stellar! Chef Andrew McLeod is heading up a team of back-of-the-house super-stars in my opinion. We got a very fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly complex tomato salad and a super delish “little salad” to start. Both excellent. Dawn got a very delicate, thought plentiful and highly satisfying trout dish with summer squash. I got a hearty, earthy, filling dish of fried oysters and barlotti beans. The coup d’gras, though, was a swordfish dish with tomatoes and watermelon that the Chef sent out. Wow. So many different flavors. I was already full when it came out, but after one bite, I couldn’t stop eating. LOL Not even kidding, I crushed every bite. Too full for dessert. We’ll be back for that another time. High recommends.

Three hapless dipshits got themselves blocked from my Food Fan Page yesterday simply by marming at me about the swears.
Two of them were straight-up like, “What if a child sees this?” Which is some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard in my life for about 500 different reasons. I started to answer them with “first of all kids aren’t even supposed to be on Facebook,” but then I felt so pre-exhausted by their future dumbnesses, that I just blocked them. Easier for me, easier on them. But…
Dear Marvel Universe…
WHAT IF…
…a child were to see a swear word within the first 18 years of their life? What crazy alternative worlds might be created by such an unimaginable event? Would a super-villain be instantly created?
“Mommy, I need a fucking cheeseburger, AND I’m taking over this fucking planet.”
Obvs, I hate being marmed at by Nellies who sit around worrying about whether or not hypothetical food-critique-loving children who sneak on to Facebook are exposed to swears.
I went to Buxton Hall Barbecue. I’ll tell you more after my nap.
UPDATE: I did eventually recover from this meal, and posted a more comprehensive review and descriptions of this food. If you want to read it, please visit my blog, StuFoodFan.com
I’m a new fan of The Original Papa Nick’s Biltmore Village. I’ve ordered their cheese pizza twice through Kickbackavl now, and I have to say, I’ve enjoyed it very much! I also got some key lime pie this time that was really tasty!
My newsletter went out this morning. It’s all about a burger. You can read it if you’d like, by clicking the link, and you can subscribe once you get there by clicking a different link. Attn: Griff’s Kitchen & Bar
Paddy and I went on an Asheville Food Tours lunch junket to Baby Bull for burgers and fries yesterday. Excellent!!! I’ll be back again and again to try the whole menu!
My mom and I went to Abeja’s House Cafe for lunch yesterday, and it was fantastic! She got an excellent chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, with a nice little side salad. And I got an amazing New Orleans style chicken and shrimp dish, covered in a creamy roasted red pepper sauce that was just phenomenal. I recommend Abeja‘s very much, everything is great, and now that I know about it, I recommended this Nola style chicken and shrimp specifically! Yum!
