trade_and_lore_2_asheville_2015Two new coffee shops are in the works for downtown Asheville and West Asheville.

First up is Trade and Lore. The shop is the brainchild of Sarah Winkler, who worked for Waking Life for more than two years, and Lindsey Pitman of The Daily Press CLT. The two decided to team after all the negativity surrounding Waking Life and open a coffee shop “with a focus on empowerment, equality, and an initiative for advocacy.”

Winkler and Pitman just announced that they’ve secured 37 Wall St. in downtown Asheville, the former home of Love/Hate Asheville, a tattoo shop owned by celebrity television tattoo artist Ami James. The tattoo shop closed earlier this year.

Winkler and Pitman have a Trade and Lore indiegogo campaign seeking $15,000 in crowd-sourced cash for their endeavor. Good luck to them as they seek to make their dream come true.

Next, there’s word that OWL Bakery will open a bake shop/coffee shop on Haywood Road near Beecham’s Curve in early 2016. OWL stands for Old World Levain and the bakery is the work of Susannah Gebhart, who specializes in naturally leavened breads and European pastries. More detail as that comes together.
