The first of six scheduled Uncommon Market events, which feature more than 70 vendors selling everything from vintage decor and antiques to up-cycled goods and more, is set for Sunday, April 25, at Foundy Street (formerly known as the Foundation).
The event’s owners, Robert and Rebecca Nicholas, say they’re excited to kick off another year of the outdoor markets as they complete work to transform a 50,000 square foot warehouse into an indoor space for similar vendors. That space, called Marquee, is scheduled to open later this year. The couple own Splurge, a custom lighting and antique business that is relocating to Marquee.
The Uncommon Market staged successful events last year while adhering to the basic Covid safety guidelines around mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing. Those protocols will be in place again this year.
Admission is free. Friendly dogs are welcome at the market. Visitors will find an array of art, jewelry, home furnishings and hand-crafted goods for sale, along with food and drink offerings. Ryan Ashley, a poet who also works as a DJ, will be spinning tunes.
The other Uncommon Market events are scheduled for May 23, June 27, Aug. 29, Sept. 26 and Oct. 24.
The Uncommon Market is giving away $50 of “Uncommon Cash” to spend at the event, bucks that can be spent with any vendor selling at the market. Check out the rules for entry on Facebook or Instagram at @FoundyStreet and @UncommonMarketAsheville.
