I ordered 12 Bones River via Kickbackavl for lunch today, and good lort, that’s some great grub. If you haven’t had 12 Bones recently, or ever, I highly recommend this lunch combo of my own creation: A smoked turkey sandwich, a wedge salad, 3 ribs, and ALLLLL the sides. Literally all of them. Comes with corn bread. ❤️❤️❤️

Did someone order a food coma? Apparently I did. I can barely keep my eyes open after this cavalcade of calories. Don’t judge me! I had, like, a thimble full of oatmeal for breakfast and then uprooted (teeny tiny) trees all morning, so If I want to eat a salad that’s made mostly of fried onions and candied bacon, I’m gonna do that, and I will fight anyone who… any… one… so sleepy…ZZZZZ

Okay, WAX… I went a little cray ordering my lunch from 12 Bones River today… and I’m really glad I did! I have been a big fan of 12 bones for along time, and I very much enjoyed this combo of a turkey sando, three ribs, a wedge salad (it’s buried under all those fried onions!) and every single side they had available. The only thing I forgot to get was some Cheerwine! I recently asked y’all how you feel about Luella’s, and it seemed like most of the folks who commented were big fans. I hope that 12 Bones has some devotees too! ? I got my food delivered via Kickbackavl, of course.
I got a burger, a po boy, some fries and a salad from from OysterHouse Brewing Company. Love me some fried oysters! Their burger comes with oysters on it, although it’s somewhat deconstructed in these pictures.
Holy moly, Y’all. This food from Tayse Of Di Islands was fantastically delicious. Chefs Millie Britt Curtis and Daulton Young invited me to pick up a sample plate of everything they had on their menu this week, and I’m telling you what. Everything was soooo gooood! Flavorful and spicy, and cooked just the way I like it, with the meat falling off the bone. We have another gem in our midst, Asheville. Try their food, meet them in person, and watch them grow. If you like this kind of food, you’ll love this specific food. Their weekly menu is available to order online, and pickup every other Saturday at Grind AVL.
We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful meal at Zambra the other night! It’s truly one of the best restaurants in Asheville and has been since forever ago. Chef Ryan Kline and crew are knocking it out of the park night after night, and now for Sunday brunch too. I’ve included a picture of their latest menu at the end of this post. If you’ve never been to Zambra, or haven’t been there in while, do yourself a favor! They have a patio, and are also available for delivery if you’re still not feeling the indoor dining thing yet. I’m obvs dining in myself these days.
PS – Please excuse my less than stellar photos. It’s tough to get good pictures with my phone at Zambra, because of the dim lighting. All my pictures were really dark, and I had to brighten them and mess with them, and they still don’t do justice to the amazing food, which looked as beautiful as it tasted.
I went on a Kickbackavl recon lunch to Luella’s Bar-B-Que North Asheville with the Boss, Jennie, and Matt. We got three meats times three, plus Brunswick stew! I chose my meats wisely, and that mac n cheese was goooood, and so were them collards. I enjoyed this meal thoroughly and hoovered it like a fiend. Of course we want to sign up Luella’s for our delivery service, so put in the good word if you’re feeling it. Thanks for a great lunch, Boss, and Luella’s staff!
Hey, WAX! How you doin’? Good? Good. I’m good. I had a very tasty and satisfying work lunch with my boss at Luella’s Bar-B-Que North Asheville. We all got three-meat plates, mine had ribs, turkey, and brisket, for my sides I got collards and mac n cheese. I chose wisely, my friends. Where do y’all like to get BBQ? Who’s your fave? Is there a place you would eat every day if you could?
