Here’s more of what’s going around:

-There’s a new bar is in the works for the old I&J convenience store on Haywood Road in West Asheville, reports Asheville Grit. It will be called Haywood Country Club, and its the work of a group of other local bar hounds: Corey Israel and Trevor Smith, formerly of the Cascade Lounge down on Amboy Road, and Benjy Greene and Scott Thomas of Banke Ave. bar on the South Slope. -An Atlanta man is pedaling a bike the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway to raise money to find a cure to Parkinson’s Disease. Timothy Riesz, an avid cyclist, is also riding to support his two aunts who have been diagnosed with the disease. Go here to support Pedaling the Parkway for Parkinson’s.

-A crowdfunding campaign is seeking to raise $10,000 as a memorial to Justin Shearer, a Wicked Weed Brewing employee who died recently in a motorcycle crash. His fiance was injured in the wreck.

-Hunter Crombie, the former owner of MotoVicious motorcycle shop on South Lexington Avenue, died recently, though I’ve been unable to spot an official obituary yet.

-The color for this year’s Color Ball is indigo. The Color Ball is the Asheville Area Arts Council’s annual fundraising event. This year’s Color Ball is set for Sept. 9.

-MANNA Food Bank’s annual Blue Jean Ball earlier this year raised a record $158,833 to help provide food for the hungry. Organizers said part of the reason for their success was this year’s them, “Pirates of the Swannanoa” (playing off the popular Disney movie franchise), dreamt up by my friends over at Adapt Public Relations.

-The downtown restaurant Calypso is adding awnings and outdoor seating, according to construction permits.

-A North Carolina woman, Jennifer Gruhn, has launched a new business that leads folks on tours of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest. Land and Lore Ecotours seeks “to inspire people about the natural and cultural heritage of the Southern Appalachians and promote their advocacy and conservation,” according to a press release.
