Improvements to air service in Asheville the focus of Jan. 20 meeting

A meeting to unveil the results of a consultant’s study on how to improve air service at the Asheville Regional Airport is set for 2-4 p.m. on Jan. 20 at the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce.

The consultant, Ailevon Pacific, will talk about the results of an in-depth study of air service to Western North Carolina and ways to improve it, according to a press release. As tourism and business continue to grow in the region, airline service must continue to evolve, according to the release.

“The results are interesting and provide clear director for strategic advocacy. It’s important to engage our community and leaders in the discussion,” the release states.

The Asheville Regional Airport has seen a number of other significant structural improvements recently. Last year, the airport re-aligned its entrance and began work on a project to build a new taxiway and main runway.
