Yup. At least according to what I’ve seen while surfing.

BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.

Not sure what the goal is, but here are a couple of local blogs to check out (we should get these added to BlogAsheville). Y’all give these people some click-click, linky love:

From Lucia, with love
Lucia writes us:
I’m wondering how one goes about getting a link to their blog on your site. I’m new to Asheville
but have a blog of essays up that I’ve been writing for since January. It’s at
www.howtotakeafall.blogspot.com. I’m looking for a little more exposure, since
I put a lot of energy into these essays and so far my five readers really appreciate it.

Well Lucia, we at Ashvegas were impressed by your essays at howtotakeafall. And a playwrite, too? Awesome. We accept those who fell between the Invisibles/Music Geeks/GoodyTwoShoes bandwidth in high school, as we were mainly in the Drama Geek category.

Here’s a snippet from Lucia’s blog:

None of us were in the wedding, as Shaleigh has enough sisters for all of us. Later, at the reception after a few drinks, Elizabeth and I sat outside in the hotel parking lot smoking.

She was still navigating an on-again, off-again tumultuous relationship with the jerk, and I was attempting to encourage her to drop him for good. “Don’t you know?” she slurred. “This is who I’m supposed to be, the drunken society wife of a rich asshole. This is all I can hope for.” I was aghast, and immediately launched into assertions that now she was in law school, soon she would meet a tall, handsome, dashing man who loved her for the brilliantly beautiful person we all knew her to be.

Amazingly, this actually happened.

And here she is, opening up about her painful experience with panic attacks:

On an excruciatingly hot July day in Austin, Texas, in the year 2000, I called EMS around four o’clock in the afternoon because I thought there was a good chance I was dying. According to the symptoms listed on the piece of paper that comes in every tampon box detailing Toxic Shock Syndrome, having a tampon in and experiencing any combination of the following symptoms (fever, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, nausea, dizziness, etc.) is reason enough to contact a medical professional immediately…

What happened next was, in retrospect and even in the midst of it to a certain extent, incredibly surreal and funny. I sat slumped on the floor of my kitchen in my pajamas, unshowered, disheveled, (mind you, it’s four in the afternoon, which should be a clue to the larger picture here), listening to the fire truck siren get louder…

Four Chippendale dancers busted through my front door and found me standing woozily in the kitchen. There’s no other way to describe them. Despite the fact that I was still pretty sure I might keel over for good at any moment, I couldn’t help but notice the stunning physical specimens in my living room with tight T-shirts, chiseled features, and heroic intentions. I wish I didn’t look so haggard, I thought.

Consider yourself pimped.
