Here are a couple of tidbits from around Asheville:

Sugar Momma’s Cookies closes storefront: Sugar Momma’s Cookies has closed its storefront in downtown Asheville, but the word is that the business will continue to operate, and sell their amazing cookies, on the basis of the orders it receives. Good luck to Sugar Momma’s.

-New sandwhich shop opening: There’s a new sammich shop in the works in the Vanderbilt Apartments building. Roman’s Take Out had a location in Fairview, which is closed. The downtown location plans to open in February. From its web site:

At Roman’s Take Out our efforts are to provide a happy medium between fast food & health food.  All of our menu items are homemade from start to finish.  We involve organic, natural, & local ingredients as much as we can.

Many thanks to loyal reader Chall for the 4-1-1.

We will miss Roman’s in Fairview but I definitely plan on following them in the new location. Great food and friendly staff.

I’m glad you posted the news about Roman’s Take-Out. I walked by their new location just today and all they had was a banner to check out "romanstakeout.com" I’ll admit my response was a little paranoid, but I wondered with concern who would create a website to "stakeout" the local "Roman" Catholic church just across the way and just what they were looking for. This makes far more sense, and sounds much more appetizing.
