Buncombe County baby names in 2017: Emma and William top lists

Here’s a quick look at the top baby names in Buncombe County for 2017, courtesy of Buncombe County Register of Deeds Drew Reisinger. Drew has been kind enough to take time out to put together these lists for several years running now, so you can spot some trends.

For boys in 2017, the most popular name by far was William, with 43 boys given that name last year. Next was Elijah at just about half that number at 26, then Samuel at 23, Oliver at 21 and Noah and Liam tied at 20.

For girls, the most popular name in 2017was Emma, with 28 girls given that name. Right behind that was Olivia at 21, Ava and Charlotte tied at 19, then Mia, Ella and Abigail tied at 17. Sophia, Harper and Evelyn were tied at 14.
