This sounds great. Press release here:
An exciting new series of public events offering an unbeatable evening of fun will be held at a downtown rooftop venue beginning Sunday, Aug. 31.
For the first time, the public is invited to Air Level at the Aloft Asheville Downtown for Live@Aloft, an event that will give visitors the chance to soak up beautiful views of the mountains to the south and west of downtown, while enjoying live music and refreshments. Visitors are also encouraged to bring their furry friends to this pet-friendly venue.
Live@Aloft will be held from 5-9 p.m. on the fourth Sunday of August, September and October. There is no cover charge for the August party.
“Until now, roof top Air Level, otherwise known as Aloft’s pool deck, has only been open to hotel guests and special, invitation-only events,” said general manager David McCartney. “But it’s one of the most requested areas to visit.”
Air Level features a variety of amenities, which include a warming fire pit, outdoor bar, a puppy path with artificial turf and comfortable vignette seating. It affords outstanding views of the downtown Asheville skyline and the mountains beyond.
“We’ve listened, and now we’re opening up Air Level for our local citizens to enjoy,” McCartney said. “It’s a great venue and a great new event.”
Local pop/rock/soul music favorite Lyric will be the featured band on Aug. 31. Light snacks and a cash bar will be available. Highland Brewing will have its Gaelic Ale on tap, as well as one of its special 20th anniversary brews.
For Aloft owner-developer John McKibbon, the Live@Aloft series is about engaging in a community he loves and contributing to Asheville’s lively cultural scene.
“Being a good neighbor is important to us,” McKibbon said. “While the Aloft provides outstanding accommodations for out of town guests, creating a venue and event that local residents can enjoy is a very important part of our mission.”
This is an interesting and smart PR move.
And allowing dogs? Nice touch.
So, they throw a party (in the Summer – and it’s HOT) on their roof-top pool deck and the pool is closed…LOL.
Are the invited dogs allowed to “get busy?”
So we can show up and give Aloft more of our money? How nice of them.
“no cover charge”
Just for August. You get the first one for free from your friendly local drydocked cruise ship.
I’ll only attend if Pat McCrory serves as my towel boy.
Sounds about right.
Thanks, Jason.
Didya ever read “The Great Gatsby”?
I didn’t think so either.
Head down, ass up, local entertainers.
Do it like on the cruise ship.
Can people swim in the pool at this event?
Sam – no. Pool closed.
