Woolworth Walk to celebrate 10th anniversary w/ ice cream social on June 15

Woolworth Walk is one of my favorite ways to see what great art Asheville’s creatives are producing. From The Laurel:

This iconic building has been at 25 Haywood Street in downtown Asheville since F.W. Woolworth first opened its doors to customers in 1938. It was given a second lease on life several years ago when Scott Sirkin took it over and transformed it into today’s art gallery. June marks the tenth anniversary of the realization of Scott’s dream, and Woolworth Walk is saying thank you to the public by hosting an ice cream social from 3–7 p.m. on June 15.

After reconstituting the building’s original flooring and bringing back the original soda fountain lunch counter, Scott transformed the site into one of the most popular showcases for “local only” artists. (The gallery defines “local artists” as those who live an hour or less away from downtown Asheville.)
