Rick Lutovsky was a disaster at the Chamber of Commerce, filling a ton of do-nothing jobs with cronies and folks who were simply unqualified. I worked there for a brief period a few years ago and know that he was mean-spirited and played favorites among the employees. To make matters worse, he was simply not the brightest candle on the cake! And yes, he would vanish for long periods during the business day…and many often saw him running on Kimberly Ave. What a joke he was and was paid over $250K per year.
His was the one who pushed for that huge new Chamber building on the opposite side of the interstate from downtown. What a stupid location — did they expect people to go into Montford neighborhood to find the visitors information center?! I understand the Chamber now has a huge debt from the new building alone.
Yes, good riddance to Lutovsky who will likely draw a huge pension in retirement.
Your right, has to be the best paying, do nothing job in the area. How many plant closings and job losses have occured since he took over the Chamber? I asked him that question once at a professional organization meeting he attended and he almost choked on his dinner, and worse, couldn't answer the question. We had several members who had just lost their jobs, and they really lit into him. His red face lit up the entire room.
Good riddance.

Interesting that they haven't named anyone to fill this cushy, extremely well-paid job.
With a bloated staff at the Chamber, not at lot of work is required, just a few ribbon cuttings, and long mid-day jogs along Kimberly Avenue….that was Rick Lutovsky's main contribution. With his reputation, I think he should retire somewhere else.
