More apple festival
Kassandra Pride went back down to the apple festival in Henderson County, like there’s more news down there. Kassandra said local businesses are looking to “harvest revenue” from all the festival-goers, whowere enjoying the party “to the core.” Apple puns. Get it? Kassandra said the festival has a $20 million impact on Henderson County. Where do you get that number, Kassandra? Twenty million? Really?
Football player dead
Former Roberson High School quarterback Cameron Underwood was found dead in his dorm room at N.C. State university. The young man had struggled to come back from a brain tumor in high school. But he came back from strokes and seizures and graduated, then went off to college. Most thought he was on his way. Very sad.
MDA telethon
Diva Darcel and Larry Blunt dressed up in gown and tux to stand around the food court at the Asheville Mall and beg money off people to battle muscular dystrophy. We’ll have to get some photos of this.
In other news…
The Hot Shot Cafe’s last day is today. The owner of the 82-year-old diner in Biltmore said he can’t keep it going any longer. Some of the video to go with this story included a close-up of Kassandra Pride’s hand as she signed a poster for Alma, the long-time diner waittress… And Cinebarre showed a movie outside on a big wall of the Biltmore Mall. In a tribute to the Labor Day holiday, they showed the classic 9 to 5. And in a story shamelessy ripped off from the local newspaper, WLOSers asked us what Roy Williams, Cal Ripken Jr., Thomas Wolfe and Cameron Maybin all have in common. Anybody who read the paper knew the answer last week – they were all bat boys for the Asheville Tourists.
That would be the third time in two day Kassandra has used that pun…must be hard thinking of words!
