A Dance For Bethany, an edgy movie filmed last year in Asheville by Asheville filmmakers Marion and Yvonne Williams, will hit the big screen later this month. Should be an exciting time.

The movie revolves around a crusading newspaper reporter out to battle the human trade in sex slaves. And the movie-makers are serious about this serious issue. Their movie company, Raise The Bar Productions, Inc., recently became a 501-c3 to give some money back to organizations that help victims of sex trafficking.
The film was shot at 21 locations around Ashvegas, including the Asheville Citizen Times, the Drhumor Building, Asheville Arts Center, Broadway Arts, the Hairspray and the tarmac at Asheville Regional Airport.
A Dance for Bethany has all the makings of a first-rate local production, something we really haven’t seen here. Yes, there have been movies shot and produced here, but they’ve mostly been real indy, shoe-string budget type deals. This movie appears to have the serious social message, a higher degree of professionalism and a little gloss. We can’t wait to see it.
Lead Actors include: Robyn Lively (Young Indiana Jones, Karate Kid, III and the recent Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board and has been featured in Strong Medicine and Crossing Jordan); William McNamara (NYPD Blue, Law and Order), Loribeth Edgeman (Warm Springs, 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story and the Lifetime premier of Army Wives); Frank Hoyt Taylor (The List, Talladega Nights, Walk the Line, Dreamer, June Bug and Ann Mahoney (Big Momma’s house II, Frankenstein and Snow Wonder). The all SAG (Screen Actors Guild) cast of 23 were exceptional in the portrayal of their characters.
