I love Tod's! My usual order is a bagel with hummus and cucumbers with sauteed greens on the side. I like small meals with mix and matchable choices that don't cost me a bundle–especially if my primary reason for being there is to be able to eat and get work done, too–and that's exactly what Tod's offers. I also prefer not to have to deal with a server bugging me, so the walk-up counter works well for me. I don't live downtown and cannot walk there, so I also like that I can find a place to park that I don't have to pay for. The food is unique and delicious, there are always beautiful people hanging around who are often equally engrossed in some activity on their computers or in a book, and the outdoor seating is comfy. One thing I wish were a bit different now that the weather is getting colder is the amount of seating space indoors. The one little room where it is possible to pull out my computer and do work is very cramped, and I wish the bulky, impractical couch seat were a couple of small tables instead.
Haven’t had the pleasure of going to Tods but I can’t wait to go. I can speak for Table; some of the best and most creative food I’ve ever had! The restaurant is owned by some of the nicest and most talented people I have ever met. As for the service, I always felt welcome and well taken care of when I was eating. I wish all the best to the owners and staff of Table and Tods.
As a local hotel representative, I send oodles of our clients to Table…FRESH DELICIOUS FOOD and CONSISTENT LEGENDARY service.
This is what makes me want to try Tod’s…now if I just had the time to make it there! Way to go Sessoms family!
i have no relationship to this restaurant, but i think the service is impeccable, and the food is some of the best i’ve had on a regular basis, and i don’t just mean in asheville, i mean nationwide.
that said. i’m sorry you have such strong feelings regarding the service and staff, i know a lot of us biz owners in asheville have good days and we have bad. maybe you just hit a few bad days.
anyway, just thought i’d chime….
The Hardcastle is not to be missed. Most amazing corndog on earth.
The lamburger was off the charts delicioius!
hey,
we’ll work on those improvements. We are making all baked goods in house. And it has been a learning process. Thanks for the critique and please let any of us know when things need work. We appreciate the input!
Disagree totally w/ last comment. Service in general has always been great..friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, attentive. I also like Tod’s…service is great, friendly, mellow. It will be really nice to frequent when the weather is good. Coffee is good, and the alcohol selection is great. Tod needs to work on the breakfast selection though. I’ve had a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and on challah…the bagels are bland and bready, and the challah combo was too greasy/buttery. Maybe consider breakfafst burritos and/or getting bagels thru another local bagelry? I’ll keep going to Tod’s regularly but I’d sure love to see the breakfast options improve.
how many people out there agree with this last post from divabunny?
hopefully the service will be better here than at table.
imo and many others… table has the worst service in asheville!
the food is great… the chef’s wife/hostess…not so great. very very rude. not once, but on multiple occassions. there are too many choices downtown to deal with bad service and a bad attitude.
we make all baked goods in house. Yes, including the bagel.
Love Tod
keep enjoying it!
I’ve heard good things–will be there for lunch tomorrow.
I went last week and had coffee and a bagel. The coffee came from a press-pot, and since I’m such a snob about that kind of thing, I could taste the metal. Normal people probably wouldn’t notice. The bagel had this homemade taste to it. Almost like sourdough? I doubt it was made there, but it was odd because it was so bready, almost like it was fried. My friend had an egg on a muffin, which he didn’t say much about. If you order a bagel with cream cheese, be prepared to get about half a pound of it smeared on your bagel.
Good prices, and they take cards.
I was impressed with their alcohol selection, which included some nice beers by the single or 6-pack, and some nice wines. Also cheap beer, like a giant can of PBR for $0.99
Every time I drive by I see a lot of people there. They close at 9pm and it seems as if a lot of hotties are already frequenting it. That means I’ll be there too 😉
Overall, I like it. It’s chill. Just wish I still lived in Montford!!
