Are there enough Asheville fans of the Rocky Horror Picture Show to get together a cast?

Loyal Ashvegas reader Julie is putting out feelers to see if there’s enough interest to support a monthly showing of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Here’s her note:

Hollywood Cinemas on Hendersonville Road was recently sold to a small company named Carolina Cinemas. They have contacted John Russell to put out feelers about how a monthly showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show would be received.

Carolina Cinemas is interested in getting together a house cast to perform. They have said they can’t pay the performers but they will give movie passes for compensation. John called me because of my past experience doing the stage show to help coordinate finding people who would be interested in giving themselves over to absolute pleasure. I know I have had conversations with several people in the past about how we would love to do Rocky. Here is our chance!

I performed with the Rich Weirdoes out of Orlando, FL for 2 years. 4 shows a month. I’ve been looking for a local shadow cast and would love to help put one together.

I was thinking about the last time I did "Rocky Horror" here in Asheville. It was in the now defunct theater on Tunnel Road behind "Office Max" or "Depot" I can’t recall.

Pretty good show. That would have to have been in ’82-83. With my old girlfriend, who just lost her mother this past week.

I’ll go to the memorial service and probably think of it again.

Yeah, some of us did grow up here.
