So Ruth Graham, the wife of Montreat evangelist the Rev. Billy Graham, died and her funeral was Saturday. WLOSers were all over it, as was a hoarde of other media outlets. Lots of Charlotte media, including Michelle Boudin. Apparently she was hanging pretty tight with Russ “Beefcake” Bowen when they weren’t doing their live shots or whatever.

Diva Darcel and Larry Blather delivered a somber replay of the funeral on the Saturday night news. And in an interesting move, each one of them took time out to personally address their viewers and tell us, all over again, how great Ruth and Billy Graham are. Darcel said she met Ruth once at the Grove Park Inn. Larry said he never met Ruth, but this was a day he’d never forget.

Darcel even went out in the field to Montreat Thursday night… IN THE RAIN.

I think that’s a sign of the apocalypse.

I thought that WLOS did a great job of covering Ruth Graham’s death. Nice job by everybody, producers, anchors, great leadership shown in putting this together. There is hope for that station if that effort can be tranformed day to day.
