Pres. Obama is looking at the right place. Just noticed that Retirement and Good Living selected Asheville as one of its top retirement locations for 2013
Actually he didn’t say anything specifically about retiring to Asheville. What he said was:
“Michelle and I always talk about how after this whole presidency thing, we’re looking for a little spot to play a little golf, do a little hiking, fishing, barbecue.”
That could just as easily mean a place to spend frequent vacation time. But, of course, because of Asheville’s obsession with being in the national spotlight, and our fixation on thinking we are the center of the universe, everyone jumps to the conclusion that he is talking about retiring here.
Well…thanks so much for your “sunny and upbeat” comment and corrections NFB. Don’t think you’ll want this opinion but I’m giving it anyway. Asheville has managed to make it into the “national spotlight” as you call it because it is a GREAT place to be. As for Asheville, thinking we are at the “center of the universe”, please speak for yourself ONLY. You do have a right to .your own opinion (negative as it is), but to assume you know the feelings of everyone here to be fixated, obsessed, and jumping to conclusions is…well shall we say…a little obsessed, fixated, and jumping to conclusions…. Hope you have a Valentines Day filled with MUCH LOVE…you sound like you could use it.
Gordon Smith is hyperventilating.

I take it as meaning that he wants to have a vacation home in the area.
