This press release announces that the TSA has appointed a new “federal security director” for the Charlotte and Asheville airports.

WASHINGTON, DC – 01/14/08 – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Mitchell Brown as the federal security director for Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

Brown has more than 35 years of law enforcement experience, including almost seven years as chief of the Raleigh (N.C.) Police Department.

Brown joined the Raleigh Police Department in 1972 and was named chief in 1994. After retiring in 2000, he managed a law enforcement consulting service. He is a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy and National Executive Institute and the U.S. Secret Service’s Dignitary Protection School. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice from North Carolina Wesleyan College and a degree in police science from Wake Technical Community College. Prior to entering law enforcement, Brown was with the U.S. Army Security Agency, serving in Vietnam, Africa and Germany.

Brown also will serve as federal security director for Asheville (N.C.) Regional Airport.
