Carl Sandburg lived in Western Carolina for over twenty years–his most productive as a writer. One of the important inspirations for his work was the guitar playing of the Spanish great, Andrés Segovia. Come hear Dr. Jhon Akers interpret the music Sandburg loved and narrate Sandburg’s lifelong love of the Spanish guitar. Akers has twice been the featured performer at the Sandburg Days festival in Galesburg, Illinois, and is the only classical musician to participate in the annual Carl Sandburg Folk Festival at the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
