UPDATED 10/5: Josephine Woody, part of the Woody family who owns the new venue confirms that Monday is the day. Here’s the comment she left: “You heard right! We’re super excited to finally open these doors!! And that will be Monday the 8th. So come say hi, have a beer, eat some food, check it out… Thanks Ashevegas and Tony and Carol for keeping up with us. Much much thanks.”

According to “Beer Guy” Tony Kiss on Facebook, the answer is YES:

We hear the soft opening was last night, and the venue offers 30 beers on tap. Looks like Citizen-Times reporter Carol Motsinger was there: Here’s her photo of the venue’s interior:

Keep your eyes on the Isis…

Who tips anyway…get over it. I prefer the European model, just round up to the next euro. Why should the customer have to pay server salaries.

Because otherwise they make $2 an hour. In Europe, they are paid a fair wage.

So, I was excited about going to Isis, until I found out that the owners are cutting corners by having servers tip out (provide part of their tips to) the kitchen. This is illegal practice and should stop. If you have the front money to rehab a space and open a restaurant, you should be able to budget paying your kitchen staff a fair wage and not having servers augment poor wages in order to improve your bottom line.

I am so sick of workers getting the shaft in this town. We do not exist simply as a vehicle to fill the owner class’ pockets with money. I will not be going to Isis until they change this policy in accordance with federal law, and I will also be spreading the word that they have unfair and illegal labor practices.

No it is not customary, in the restaurant world. I’ve worked for over a decade in the restaurants, and nowhere worth its salt would try to cheat workers that way. The owners are responsible for paying the wages of kitchen workers–that’s why it is ILLEGAL to make servers tip out kitchen workers.

It’s just owners trying to pit workers against each other by saying servers should tip out kitchen. It’s bullshit.

Hi. Having worked for one of the better bars downtown who offered back of the house a living wage of $10-12 an hour plus 15% of bar tips. Those guys would walk with more than a lot of servers in town. So it can be a good thing.

From what I hear it’s going to be “killer”, both with the beer selection and the back room. Can’t wait, it’s going to be “killer”.
