Bill Geist of CBS News Sunday Morning came down to Hendersonville awhile ago and did a story about the HonorAir program, a story that ran again on Sunday. Honor Air, as you know, is a deal where locals raise money to send World War II veterans up to Washington, D.C., to see the WWII monument.

HonorAir merged this year with Honor Flight to form the Honor Flight Network, according to HonorAir founder Jeff Miller, who was recently quoted in the Hendersonville Times-News. The Honor Flight Network president is Earl Morse.

Geist says that programs around the country have sprouted up to copy the Honor Air program. That’s true. An Ashvegas Rotary Club has been raising money to send a group of vets from Asheville to D.C. on Sept. 29. Kinduva cool program.

Don’t know if you noticed it, but Sunday Morning also did another story in Hendersonville a few weeks ago–something about a barbershop. I only caught the tease; didn’t see the whole story. I think it was Bill Geist again.
