This has the potential to be a really great discussion. Press release here from Jess McCuan, editor of Verve magazine:

Hello, all you journalists and folks interested in journalism… Please join me this Friday for what I think will be a great talk. I’ll be moderating a Hatch panel with:

–> Jeff Chu, a senior editor at Fast Company, now at work on a provocative book.

–> Tim Windsor, an editorial director at Patch.com, the buzzy new AOL news project headed up by Arianna Huffington.

–> Jody Evans, a longtime NPR executive who’s the new head of WCQS in Asheville.

–> Kim Ruehl, the last remaining staffer of a cool alt-country magazine, No Depression, now NoDepression.com. (She lives in Asheville.

Panel starts at 5pm on Friday, April 15, in the Hatch Innovator’s Lounge, the Jubilee space at 46 Wall Street in downtown Asheville.

Here’s our topic:

In the Digital World, What’s News?

Our panelists discuss reporting standards in the digital age—from Twitter rumors to Googled gossip to old-school investigative techniques. We’ll shed some light on how old-fashioned storytelling can survive online.
