From today’s Ashvegas column in the Asheville Citizen-Times:

Tanya Apolka deals in everything from kosher meats and Russian chocolate to Polish beers and French perfumes, and she’s certain she’s found the perfect location to sell it all — a West Asheville shopping center.

“In West Asheville, people are willing to try different things. They won’t ignore you,” Apolka says. “My location is the best.”

The Euromarket fits perfectly with the rest of West Asheville’s funky flavor. It serves a large population of Ukrainian and Moldovan families who live in Asheville, as well as any number of other Eastern Europeans and Americans who can find the hard-to-find on the Euromarket’s shiny shelves. When people rave about Asheville’s diversity, they’re talking about places like the Euromarket.
