Here’s the heads-up from loyal reader Jenny:

Hey, Ashvegas Team…. just saw this, and thought it might be of interested to Ashvegas readers:

I grew up in Dallas and Dickey’s was a BBQ staple for much of my life, so I am super excited about this.

Locally owned and operated franchisee, local employees, and awesome BBQ brisket means a win-win-win.

Now if they can just break the curse that seems to plague restaurants in that Walmart shopping center on Hendersonville….

Thanks much!
Jenny

Here’s part of the press release:

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will soon be heating things up in Asheville. New franchise owner, Fran Noel, is eager to begin construction on her new 2,000 square foot restaurant located in the Walmart shopping center at 1636 Hendersonville Road.

“I’m excited to be joining the Dickey’s family,” said Noel who will run this location with her business partner Dorothy Elias. “The Dickey’s business model sets franchise owners up for success and I’m ready to get started.”

Noel grew up in Morganton and has lived in Asheville for more than 20 years and very much considers herself a local. After working as a Certified Public Accountant for 16 years, Noel decided to make a change and owning a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit seemed to be a great opportunity.

“As a kid I used to work in my parent’s restaurant and make a small weekly allowance,” said Noel. “It’s going to be so much fun getting back into the restaurant industry and making a difference in my community.”

Dickey’s is taking North Carolina by storm. Brad and Christy Evers will be opening a new location in Morrisville and Eric Davis will be opening the newest location in Raleigh in early September. Currently, there are 10 Dickey’s Barbecue Pits in North Carolina.

I wish them luck and hope the demographic can sustain a restaurant in that location.
As we don’t have a BBQ restaurant on H-Ville Road this might do well, but will need a lot of advertising since it does not face the road.

    Good luck to them..
