Asheville’s first ever pub-cycle is ready to hire a couple of drivers. From Craigslist Asheville:
We are a new tour company in Asheville, looking for 1-2 drivers/tour guildes/entertainers to show our patrons a great time in Asheville!
The driver responsibility portion of the position encompasses navigating the 18′ x 7′ 14 person pedal powered (electric motor assist) beer bus through our downtown routes, stopping at our partnership establishments for patrons to get their food or drink on, all the while following traffic laws and being concious of other vehicles and pedestrians.
The ‘tour guide/entertainer’ in you will be the ringleader of our themed tours, some which are quite hilarious. You Must be quick with a joke, good at motivating people, explaining the rules, and be the host with the most! Previous entertainment experience that could relate to this position will be highly regarded, but not mandatory.
We’re really looking for an outgoing personality combined with responsibility and common sense to join our family team. Base pay is $10 per hour, plus driver/entertainer takes all the tips, so the performance based pay could end up being quite lucrative for the right person(s).
Late last year, Shawn Verbrugghe of Amazing Pubcycle went to Asheville City Council asking for a franchise agreement that would allow him to operate on the streets of Asheville. He got the required permits and appears to be on his way.
Amazing Pubcycle on FB says it is offering free beer to person with the best tagline for the new biz. Best so far: “cruisin’ for a brews-in.”

Good luck with the people-powered cycle pub! Hope there’s an electric assist planned for the Asheville operation — we’ve seen several fuel-free transport start-ups misjudge the city’s undulating topography. If nothing else, folks will get a taste of what Hemingway observed, “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best!”
