How cool is this? Asheville Citizen-Times reporter Carol Motsinger blogs about colleague Erin Brethauer, the newspaper’s multimedia editor and staff photographer:
Erin, who has worked at the Citizen-Times as a photographer since 2007 and was recently promoted to multimedia editor, is guest hosting The New Yorker’s Instagram feed for the week with snapshots from Camp Lakey Gap, a camp for people with autism in Black Mountain.
The prestigious periodical — which has been publishing its commentary, news, poetry, fiction and satire since 1925 – has about 81,000 followers on the photography-only social media site and mobile application. Erin posted her first picture this morning with this caption:
Hello! My name is Erin Brethauer (@erinbrethauer) and I’m a photographer based in Asheville, North Carolina. This week I’m guest hosting the New Yorker feed from Camp Lakey Gap, a camp for people with autism in Black Mountain, NC. I’ve been photographing at the camp since 2008 while working on a personal project. In July, I spent two weeks taking pictures with my iPhone. You’re going to see a mix of images from a week with 4-10 year old high-functioning kids with autism and a week with adults with autism. I hope you enjoy your week at camp with these fine folks and thanks for looking! #camp #camplakeygap #autism #northcarolina #blackmountain #pooltime #campers
