The Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina
Celebrate The Grove Park Inn’s 99th Birthday with our family!
The Grove Park Inn opened its historic doors on July 12, 1913. On Saturday, July 7, 2012, we invite you to join in our celebration with vintage music, complimentary cake, and a champagne toast for a one-of-a-kind birthday celebration.
William Jennings Bryan, Secretary of State in 1913, offered the following statements during the public address at our opening banquet: “Today we stand in this wonderful hotel, not built for a few, but the multitudes that will come and go. I congratulate these men. They have built for the ages.”
A constant favorite, Shakespeare’s beloved comedy portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, who are manipulated by the fairies that inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. A fun play for adults and children alike. Join the fun for our “Cutest Dog Contest” every Saturday night at intermission. The winning dog will make a stage debut as “this dog, my dog” in the final act!

“We all knew about the Secret B-Sides way back when. The band has been quietly gaining momentum for years, and it’s not like frontman Juan Holladay is hard on the eyes and ears. But when the local old-school-meets-new-school soul/funk/R&B outfit dropped sophomore album Flowers & Chocolate earlier this year, those sultry, sweaty, swaggering sounds hit just the right note. Add to that an ambitious show schedule, lots of local festival appearances, a wrench-tight live show and a crazy-brilliant accompanying cosmology involving dinosaurs, flying saucers and a mystical land of flowers, and you begin to understand why the Secret B-Sides are the current reigning kings of soul.” — Alli Marshall, Mountain Xpress
