We stumbled upon a gallery opening in downtown Ashvegas last night and thought we’d tell you about it. The artwork and party was held in Chavarria Hair Design, but artwork will be displayed at Gallery Minerva. And Amanda Boekhout was the artist on display. Very cool stuff. Go here to check it out.

We also heard about the opening of the Sumac Gallery down on Clingman on Thursday. The Mad Tea Party provided the music, and jugglers, pixies and other Ashvegas performers populated the party. There were a number of different artists on display.

The two galleries provide an insight into the contrasts of Ashvegas. Gallery Minerva is the hoity-toity gallery located in the heart of downtown. Upscale. Slick. The Sumac Gallery is located in an unfinished space near the railroad tracks. Its feel is more organic, unpolished, organic.

But all very cool. All why we love Ashvegas.
