Here’s a nice note I received from loyal reader Mona:

Ash,
Just a note to let you know a crew was at A-B Tech this morning shooting a story for ABC World News on Buncombe County Early College. It’s scheduled to air at 6:30 tonight. (I would have let you know sooner, but I just found out myself late yesterday.)

The crew talked to Early College Principal Meg Turner and student Heather Meece, who graduates in June with a high school diploma and associate in science degree. ABC’s segment on innovative school programs was prompted in part by an article that appeared in the New York Times Wednesday about a pilot program in eight states that will allow 10th graders who pass board exams to enroll in community colleges. You can find the Times article at http://s.nyt.com/u/BbP

Heather has a brief appearance at the end of the segment and, sadly, A-B Tech doesn’t even get a mention.

My daughter is a student at Early College. The whole segment was disappointing. No time to give any details about the program. Nor was there much time that broadcast to report on the airplane crash into the IRS building. There was, however, almost half of the show devoted to Tiger Woods. Nice priorities.
