WNCW has been on the downhill slide for quite awhile. I'm sure another community college robot will take his place, and the circling of the drain will continue.
Haven't relied on NCW to expose me to new music for YEARS. It's a good thing, because they suck at it now. But goodness gracious– ain't they COOL and whatnot?
"Not that they're any of our business, of course."
Even if WNCW is publicly supported?
He's out of the job at the end of June, but "on leave" UNTIL the end of June? That's not a normal departure by any stretch of the imagination . . . unless they're just letting him burn off vacation hours that he never used as some sort of pseudo-severance package. No transition arrangements, no advance announcement … sounds like there are some secrets left unsaid, here. Not that they're any of our business, of course.
It's a damn shame. Dana Whitehair is a fantastic person, arduously supportive of local music, independent radio and grassroots operations. I don't know what the deal is, but hearing about it makes me want to turn of WNCW. 🙁
