We tuned in to watch the local news and forgot that there was none. It’s Labor Day weekend, after all. And that can only mean one thing for WLOSers – the Jerry Lewis telethon.
Everybody was there, doing anything and everything just for a few bucks. Larry Blunt sang Barbara Ann while Diva Darcel Grimes and Julie Wunder did the twist. All for a promise of $250. For a mere $150, Larry sang “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head” and did a little tap shuffle.
Meanwhile, Frank Fraboni pretended it was really hot outside up in a fire truck bucket. The wouldn’t let him down until they raised X amount of money. Frank, the newly hired anchor for WMYA’s new 10 p.m. newscast, kept fanning himself and drinking water. It barely got to 80 degrees. Give me a break. Once inside, Frank faked push-ups and sit-ups with the Boy Scouts at every $50 pledge. A tip, Frank – when you do sit-ups, you’re supposed to keep your feet on the floor. Frank did this rocking motion thing that was a really weak pretend version of a real sit-up. Drop and give me 20, Frabonehead!
The ladies looked great. Darcel in her gold gown and permanent eye-liner was flawless. Charu, wearing a glittery tradional Indian dress, looked fabulous. But the really smokin’ hot one was Holly Headrick, who will be co-anchoring with Frank on the 10. Holly had the high heels and the black evening dress with the sexy slit. The only thing she lacked was a little extra attention to the hair. Still, smokin’.
We also saw Jay and Julie, but no sign of Russ or John Le or Mike Cuevas. Were they doing the telethon Saturday?
The WLOSers helped raise nearly $500,000 locally for research into muscular dystrophy.
You obviously don’t know anything about Indian fashion. Charu looks great.
And where was Tammy- by far their most personable presence?
Huw – exactly! The fancier a charity event, the less i want to give. Hanging out in the mall food court isnt fancy, but i digress. i know what you mean.
I never understand gowns for this – or any – charity event. Charu is clearly wearing her grandmother’s curtains. Darcel seems to be wearing the curtain from the Carmike. Holly… well… ok.
