The tv market for Asheville includes all of Western NC plus all of upstate SC. In reality, WLOS only covers WNC; WYFF covers Greenville, SC; and WSPA covers Spartanburg, SC. This is a large geographic area for sure, but highly fragmented in terms of local news outlets.
Metropolitan Nashville tv stations cover all of middle Tennessee plus parts of southern Kentucky, and also parts of northern Alabama. Nashville is a much larger city by any measure. With the huge music and entertainment industry in Nashville, she will certainly have opportunities and visibility over there that would never be possible in this region. Good luck Heather!
yes Heather will be missed but, Nashville is market 29 and Asheville is market 36. It's not that much of a jump. I also think there are a few, very few, who have stuck around WLOS who are good.
Yes, she was one of the better ones at WLOS. The ones with talent never stay long in this small mountain city — so I'm not surprised she is moving to Nashville, which is a much larger tv market.
Best of luck to Heather. She's always been professional and dedicated.
