WLOS reports tonight that Asheville has recorded its first homicide of 2009.

Courtney Brennan says a woman was stabbed to death Sunday afternoon in an Asheville neighborhood. Family members call it a crime of passion that happened in Montford on Woodlawn Avenue, according to Brennan.

Police found the woman stabbed to death in a yard. Rodney Robinson, the suspect in the case, apparently just found out that his girlfriend was a prostitute and he snapped, stabbing her several times, Brennan reports.

Robinson has been arrested and charged.
