Halstead is a British guitarist and singer, described as “one of Britain’s most respected songwriters” by Allmusic.com. He was a founding member of  the shoegaze band Slowdive.

Halstead is the principal singer and songwriter in country/folk band Mojave 3, and also plays guitar.

Win two tickets to this intimate show at the LAB back room by telling us the name of Halstead’s debut solo CD. You know the drill–use your full first and last name in your comment, you must be 18, and the contest is open only to those who haven’t won anything from Ashvegas in the last 30 days.

Here’s the scoop from Sean O’Connell of Creative Allies:

Neil Halstead (Slowdive, Mojave 3) will be playing a rare concert in Asheville on Saturday September 29th at the Lab (Backstage)  on Lexington Ave.  Halstead is touring in support of his new album Palindrome Hunches (just released on Brushfire Records).

Palindrome Hunches, the follow-up to Halstead’s acclaimed sophomore solo effort Oh! Mighty Engine finds the Cornwall, England-based musician continuing to craft moody and endlessly mesmerizing folk-infused songs. This time around, Halstead teamed up with producer Nick Holton and members of Wallingford’s Band of Hope (including Ben Smith on violin, Drew Milloy on double bass, Paul Whitty on piano, and Tom Crook on guitar) to achieve a sound that’s both remarkably rich and piercingly intimate.

Halstead is currently on tour across North America playing intimate shows at venues such as Eddie’s Attic (Atlanta), Schuba’s (Chicago) and Largo at the Coronet (Los Angeles).

Tickets for show are available at Harvest Records or online at neilhalstead.eventbrite.com.
