With Chimney Rock now up for sale for $55 million, what will become of it? The best case scenario is that the land remains preserved from development. Hickory Nut Gorge is one of the most beautiful places in all of Western North Carolina, especially in the fall, and we’d hate to see it be developed any more than it is.

Another positive might be that the Village of Chimney Rock gets cleaned up a bit. It’s a mini Pigeon Forge, with made-in-China snow globes and tomahawks for sale. Let’s hope that whatever happens to the park impacts the little town in a positive way.
