WLOSers didn’t have much on the news Sunday. Courtney Ward did some crunches and that was about it. Charu helmed the 6.

On Saturday, Kassandra Pride “covered” the memorial service of John and Irene Bryant, the old couple killed while hiking in the Pisgah Forest last year. The service was private, so Kassandra talked to people outside of the service.

There was something about a “strange hit-and-run” on Lexington Avenue, where two cars collided, then a guy apologized and ran off, saying he had outstanding warrants. Police got a description. In other police news, some dude was charged with beating someone else with a bat.

Also, the body of Thomas Ray, an Army sergeant from our area killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb, arrived at the Asheville Regional Airport on Saturday. The local Patriot Guard was there with their motorcycles and flags to honor the soldier. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Finally, there was a brain injury group fund-raiser, and some Mrs. North Carolina beauty queens gave girls with Down Syndrome tips on how to walk a runway.
