Panic at the pump
On Thursday, the gas run will continue, but settle some. Nearly half of gas stations will close because of lack of fuel. Dozens of people will lay out of work, saying that don’t have enough gas to get their, or can’t afford it.

Further out west, towns like Burnsville will run dry, forcing more people into Ashvegas desperate for fuel.

At least one person will be hospitalized for poisoning after ingesting gasoline from a siphon tube.

Pray at the pump
Churches will mobilize with prayer and some action. Church vans will roll to bring people into the pews on Sunday, in an effort to conserve gasoline.

Orange Peel at the pump
I haven’t checked the Peel’s blog or web site, but there are rumors about the Orange Peel hosting a hurricane aid concert, with them trying to bring in someone like Dave Matthews. The owner of the Peel is from New Orleans, so there’s a direct connection. And the idea grew out of helping out a New Orleans musician set to play the Peel this weekend – he apparently lost all his equipment in the storm, but there’s been a move on to donate equipment after he said he’d play here despite that.
