Watching the swifts

You can’t see the little birds, but high above the Grove Arcade each night, the chimney swifts are swirling, then diving into a stack atop the Grove Arcade. People love to come out and watch them. “Like black water down an avian drain” is how we described their swirling motions last year, and we like that.

    WTF are you people talking about? i want dets. PRONTO!! will someone go with me & hold my hand? i don’t want to get my eyes poked out. i need them (mis ojos) to work so that I can get a paycheck in order to pay rent in order have a place to sleep so that I may keep my sanity. wishful thinking.

    i didn’t know we had so many bird watchers around. thanks for all the comments! i had no idea about the Asheville Middle swifts. or the Grove Park Inn swifts, Ptaak.

    There is also a flock up at the Grove Park Inn. Saw them a couple weeks ago!

    They are very cool. But they don’t come close to watching the bats fly out in Austin. We need some bats up here!

    I used to watch the Chimney Swifts back in Fillmore. They lived in the chimney at the High School.

    Yes, the swifts are here, but not for much longer. Best time to see them is about 7:30 or 8 p.m.
