All Weekend
44th LEAF Festival at Lake Eden, starting Thursday: The popular weekend-long, family-friendly music and arts festival returns to the shores of Lake Eden with its “Ignite and Inspire” theme.

WNC Yarn Crawl, starting Thursday: WNC Annual Yarn Crawl is an opportunity for fiber enthusiasts from around our region – and beyond – to travel to the Asheville area and visit participating stores for a treasure hunt.

Thursday
Wild and Scenic Film Festival at Sierra Nevada in Mills River, 7 p.m.: See “the year’s best short-form nature, wilderness, and outdoor adventure films” on a beautiful May evening. Hosted by Mountain True and Sierra Nevada.

Skunk Ruckus CD release party, 9 p.m. to midnight, The Mothlight: This rocking Asheville band celebrates the release of its second record, Pearls Before Swines.

Friday
Juniper Bends Spring Reading Celebration at Downtown Books and News, 7-8:30 p.m.: Hosts Lockie Hunter and Caroline Wilson invite you to a delightfully spring-themed edition of the popular local reading series.

Ashley English presents A Year of Picnics, Malaprop’s, 7 p.m.: Homesteader and author Ashley English presents 20 inspired picnics in her new book, A Year of Picnics: Recipes for Dining Well in the Great Outdoors.

Aaron Burdett CD release show, Isis Music Hall, 9 p.m.: Another great local talent celebrates the release of a new record, Refuge.

Friday and Saturday
The Great American Strip-Off at Magnetic Theatre, 10 p.m.: Featuring talents of a diverse cast of characters who will have you hot and bothered and laughing out loud, this competitive burlesque performance is an unmissable way to celebrate the weekend. Hosted by Boo Velvet.
