The Asheville Fringe Arts Festival @ venues around town

Today through Sunday, the Fringe Festival takes over Asheville at six venues across town, including the LaZoom bus and the backseat of a car, to bring you the best and most mind-bending performances from local and national artists, in genres ranging from comedy to dance to puppets–and beyond. Gospel Night with Flossie Boyd Johnson & Favor @ The Double Crown

10 pm

Flossie returns to the Double Crown for a night of spirited singing! If you saw her last time, you know why you need to be there. If you didn’t–trust us–you need to be there. $10.

Friday, January 27

Beer City Science Pub: Understanding Your Dog’s Behavior @ the Collider

5:30 – 8 pm

The Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) and the Collider are bringing you deep insights about your furry friends in this special edition of the Beer City Science Pub. Sip on some delicious beer and food (because Asheville) and listen to Applied Ethologist* Kim Brophy present on the science of your pawed pal. Brophy is a nationally awarded certified trainer and behavior consultant and owner of the Dog Door. The talk starts at 6:30. Free.

* that means Animal Behaviorist, more or less

Saturday, January 28

Asheville Fringe Festival Afterparty @ the Lazy Diamond

10 pm

Celebrate the Fringe so far and the Fringe to come with Asheville Grit, the Lazy Diamond, and Fringe Fest folks! This event is open to the public and will feature weird, bizarre, and amazing pop-up performances from Sunday Fringe performers, a rousing game of Pass the Weasel (with trivia! and prizes!) and all kinds of crazy goodness. Fringe-themed sips on tap.

Sunday, January 29

Cheers to 10 Years! Birthday Party and Bar Release @ the French Broad Chocolate Factory and Tasting Room

3-6 pm

French Broad Chocolates celebrates a big birthday with factory tours, chocolate bar tastings, cupakes, bubbly, Imperial Breakfast Stout from Green Man Brewing, cocoa, chili, and more. And it’s free. Chocolate. Cupcakes. Beer. Free.
