A new unauthorized fan blog follows the progress of  the new Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Festival, the renamed, re-branded festival once known as Moogfest. (As we covered previously in the blog, Moogfest still exists, but as its now functionally under new management, what Moogfest 2013 will be remains to be seen, though I hear enticing rumors that it’s shaping up to be a sort of Asheville version of South by Southwest.)

Here’s hoping this blog is a voice for keeping the magic of Moogfests 2009-2012 alive and well.

From an entry posted today, “Pick a side”:

Moogfest will be back, better than ever, and true to the brand.

The MOEMS is the true festival, it was AC Entertainment’s idea, they have the experience and skills to make it better than ever.

As someone who has immensely enjoyed every Asheville Moogfest, the news that Moog and AC Entertainment would no longer be working together on it was a big disappointment.  The only other comparable festival is Iceland Airwaves, which is a lot longer commute.

The reaction to the announcement was largely split between “Moog” and “Moogfest” camps. Moogers wanted “more Moog” in Moogfest, and were constantly tweaked by the lack of actual Moog products on stage.  And they hate jam bands.  Moogfesters weren’t as purist on how the music was created, but couldn’t believe that Moog was pulling the plug on a great festival.  Some of them hate jam bands too.

You’ve probably already figured out where I stand on this by now.  AC Entertainment made Moogfest.  They have the skills, resources and connections to make it happen again.  I hope they do.
