On gas
Gas will spike again tomorrow with another increase. Speculation will run rampant that we’ll run out of gasoline in Western North Carolina because New Orleans and Louisana refineries are under water. People will be lined up at the pumps. There will be angry words, at least one fight. Buses will cut hours.

On cigs
There are already stories out there about people stocking up on cancer sticks in advance of the state’s new tax kicking in on Thursday. What’s the new tax – an extra 25 cents, I think, with another 5 cents added on next year?

Anyway, the people waiting in line for gas will be smoking lots of cigarettes, which will cause a run on the cancer sticks. More fights.

On the lottery
People, once they’ve loaded up on gas and cigs, will rush out to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino to being practice gambling for the forthcoming lottery. There won’t be enough one-armed bandits to go around. Yes, more fights. One person will die from smoke inhalation.
