We’ve got good news, Asheville–every event we’re highlighting this weekend is inside! Phew! Stay toasty and enjoy everything Asheville has to offer. It may be a wintry hell outside, but you’ll be celebrating so hard we promise you’ll sweat, at least a little bit. Without further delay, onto the Asheville GritVegas weekend update!
Andrew Scotchie headline the Peel for the Holiday Jam! Proceeds go to benefit MANNA Food Bank and Mission Children’s Hospital. Also playing: McKayla Reece, Andalyn Lewis, and Porch 40, plus other special guests. Entry is $10 plus a canned good or toy donation.
This show features local artists, including Gus Cutty, David Simchook Photography, and Justin Helton and runs through 12/22. Hit the opening reception on Friday and take home a gift for a good cause. Proceeds will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. And be sure to check out the other wonderful Christmas Jam events happening over the weekend!
A group of Asheville artists are coming together to celebrate the holidays. The artists include: Alli Good, Hannah Dansie, Blake Lee Ferguson, Nathaniel Roney, Maxx Feist, Gus Cutty, Jen Toledo, Justin Rabuck, Julie Armbruster, Noah Prinsen, Marissa Zarrabzadeh and Liz Williams.
Mobley, the genre-defying musical sensation that joins the best of R&B, indie rock, and pop who hails from Austin, TX, is bringing his signature sound to New Mountain’s Ridge, with support from Catch Fever and the Stump Mutts. Mobley was one of the best shows in our recent memory–don’t miss a chance to see him before all of his shows start selling out. Tickets are $5.
Raleigh’s Oak City Slums puts on the best party in town (seriously) when he plays BEATLIFE. He’ll be taking the stage along with Koresma, Away Msg, Cosmore, and Simon Smthng. As per usual, BEATLIFE is $5.
Our other pick for Saturday night is AVL favorite RBTS WIN, who will play Isis with We Roll Like Madmen and Astrea Cop. Buy tickets for both and go back and forth between Isis and Mothlight to get the best of all worlds. Tickets for RBTS are $8/$10 day of show.
Head back to the Mothlight on Sunday for an entirely different event–the Wham, Bam! Puppet Slam features original puppetry acts, comedy, and more from Toybox (in his Cartoon Witch form), Bean and Bear, Atlanta’s Peter Hart, and a variety of other delightful characters. Tickets for this night of magical mayhem are $15.
