If the opening chords of “Sick of the Blues” – the first cut on the official debut by this group from Asheville, N.C. – don’t get your toes tapping, then you probably don’t have a pulse. The funky rock and blues band the Royal We has kicked around the Southeast since 2001 and is just starting to reach beyond its regional roots. The group’s barroom energy, tight guitar, and rhythms are enhanced by clever, sardonic lyrics, written mostly by band founder, frontman, and singer Chris Tanfield.
