One more debate tidbit
*Russ “Beefcake” Bowen, in recapping the Taylor-Shuler debate debacle on Friday put together some sound bytes from Taylor and Shuler verbally smacking one another. After the first clip, Russ goes, “Ouch.” After the second byte, Russ goes, “Double ouch.”
Now that’s reporting.
Flag statement
Carolyn “Little Red” Ryan talked to a dude out in Henderson County who spray-painted the word “Vote” over an upside down flag, then hung the giant flag on his garage. Not sure what the purpose was, and Red didn’t tell us what the point was.
Fatal wreck
There was a head-on collision on the Hwy 25 connector in Henderson County and one woman was killed.
In other news…
The Swain County sheriff is looking into allegations that a detention officer stole inmate drugs and then sold them… Macon County DSS says a meth crisis means that the number of kids in foster care has doubled … It’s damn cold and that means more homeless people looking for hot meals and a warm place to spend the night. Local homeless shelters are turning people away… The audio for Cuevas and his weather-guessing report didn’t work for several agonizing seconds, and that weird winter weather graphic that Larry wanted changed last year is back… You can ski this weekend at Catalooche ski resort because they make snow up there… The United Way in Buncombe County raised more than $5.8 million this year, a new high mark for them… And there was a “harvest festival” at Stephens-Lee Recreation Center.

The holidays are coming, and Diva Darcel likes to shop… A newspaper ad that resembled a classified ad page but was printed in Chinese lettering spurred Pat “Simple” Simon to go out and ask people if more jobs are being outsourced to foreign countries…
