brew_pump_asheville_2014The Brew Pump in West Asheville is celebrating its one-year anniversary this afternoon with a big party. Here are the details, from Brew Pump on FB:

This Friday, we’re celebrating our one year anniversary right here on Haywood Rd in the best side of town! We want to give thanks to the community that’s supported us this past year, so were staying open past our bedtime till 2am and serving all beer and cider for 3$! Plus we’ll have DJ sets from Dr. Filth and DJ Ghostface Kahlua spinning the finest funk, soul and old school hip-hop! El Kimchi and Vieux Carre will also be here making sure no one goes hungry. All humans are urged to attend!!!

Lots of folks questioned whether the bar-in-a-gas station would be a hit when it first opened. But after a major renovation to the gas station that included the removal of an old laundromat, the Brew Pump has proven to be a popular spot for anyone interested in a local craft beer, local food trucks and room for kids to play.

My disclaimer: The Brew Pump and adjacent gas station is owned by Citizens Fuel, a family owned company for decades here in Asheville. My mom has worked for the company for nearly 30 years. Vic Shealy and his family are incredible, and they really have serving the community at heart.

So come on out and help the Brew Pump party for their 1-year anniversary.
