Loyal readers, want to save 50% on tickets to see Jerry Douglas this Thursday at the Peel? Read on to learn more about a special discount from Ashvegas and the Orange Peel. To celebrate the Peel’s 19th birthday and to reward our loyal readers (ours and the Peel’s) for voting us top honors in this year’s Mountain Xpress Best of WNC poll, here’s a little something for fans of live music:
Jerry Douglas, long time dobro player and part of Alison Kraus’s frequent collaborating band, Union Station, is coming Thurs 10/25 to the Orange Peel in Downtown Asheville. Thursday also happens to mark the 10-year anniversary of the Orange Peel’s first concert upon opening in 2002. Jerry Douglas is a thirteen-time Grammy Award winner and numerous International Bluegrass Music Association winner, named “Musician of the Year” by The Country Music Association (2002, 2005, 2007), The Academy of Country Music (11 times), and The Americana Music Association (2002, 2003).
The liner notes for new album Traveler, read like a who’s who of popular American music, with guest vocals from Eric Clapton, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Mumford & Sons and Paul Simon. Recorded in Nashville, New Orleans, New York and Banbury, U.K., the album spotlights versions of Paul Simon classics “The Boxer” and “American Tune.”
As a special offer to our fans, you can now buy 50% off tickets to the show. Night-of-show tickets are normally $30, but for Ashvegas readers, tickets may be purchased for $15 each.
